A paragraph is a group of sentences related to each other by a main idea or topic. Each sentence gives details about the main or central idea or theme. Each sentence supports the main idea. These sentences are called supporting details or supporting sentences. A paragraph has a beginning, middle and an end.
When writing you must remember:-
- Each paragraph must be indented.
- Your sentences must start with a Capital Letter and end with a Full Stop.
- The subject and verb must agree.
- You brainstorm for your main idea and supporting details before writing. You do this by making a plan.
- Make the main idea into a topic sentence which tells what you are writing about. This can be the first sentence.
- Each sentence after will be a supporting sentence.
- The Last sentence of the paragraph can be your closing sentence which ends the paragraph and repeats the main idea in another way.
